
Children, they have been the core of all Thozhamai’s activities for the sole reason that they are the most vulnerable and their voices are often unheard. We as an organization ensure that children participate at all levels, to an extent our founder often mentions about giving them the voting rights. Our focus is to create a society in which the most vulnerable sections enjoy Equality, Social Justice, Freedom, Fraternity and Democracy.

COVID-19, the name was alien to many until it devastated the world. In simple words it made the world pause. Everything was shut, even meeting people nor walking in the streets. India with its staggering population had its toll. The scale of the crisis COVID made to human race has been unprecedented. National and state Governments grappled with challenges of reaching their people especially in rural areas and highly populated places like the resettlement areas.

Terre des Hommes Netherlands, in collaboration with Children of India Foundation and Thozhamai, inaugurated the DtZ-SUFASEC project on Preventing Online Sexual Exploitation of Children. The launch, held on May 3, 2023, at Vestin Park Hotel, Egmore Chennai, marked the beginning of a three-year action research initiative. The project aims to combat online sexual exploitation by partnering with government departments, NGOs, academic institutions, media experts, and various stakeholders. The tagline, "Responsible use of the Internet by all of us," encapsulates the program's focus.

Thozhamai with the support of Azim Premji Foundation has started a project to empower adolescent girls in Semmancherry and Perumbakkam locality. It is a three year project with a target population of 900 adolescent girls. Currently, Thozhamai is in the first annual part of the project where around 400 adolescent girls from the community are being benefited.

Futuremakers program was previously known as the goal program. Thozhamai has partnered with Women Win an international non-profit organization registered in the Netherlands. Providing awareness to promote worldwide gender equity. Its ultimate goal is to transform adolescent girls and women who live in underserved communities. This program was mainly focused on the development of sports and life skills education for girls.

Thozhamai, a resource organization focused on child rights, has recognized a significant issue in how violence against children is reported in the media in India. In response, Thozhamai has proposed a series of activities aimed at sensitizing media professionals on the proper reporting guidelines. These proposed activities align with various UNICEF programs and seek to educate journalists on established standards and best practices for reporting such incidents.

shOUT for Freedom Project Objective: The core objective of the shOUT for Freedom project is to cultivate a society where the most vulnerable segments experience equality, social justice, freedom, fraternity, and democracy. This endeavor involves targeted campaigns aimed at duty bearers, advocating for transformative practices, and forging robust connections between local, district, and national levels to foster solidarity. Through collaborative networks, coalitions, and alliances, the project seeks to amplify the voices of marginalized communities.

This initiative represents a comprehensive strategy aimed at fostering awareness and empowering youth and children to actively engage in climate change and disaster management efforts. With a focused implementation in the Semmancherry and Perumbakkam regions, the project emphasizes education, leadership, and sustainable practices that build climate resilience among the younger generation.

In collaboration with the Linsi Foundation, Thozhamai is implementing the Family Focused Village Development Programme (FFVDP). This initiative is dedicated to empowering marginalized communities by supporting vulnerable individuals and guiding them toward self- sufficiency and resilience. Since 2006, Thozhamai has been dedicated to uplifting oppressed urban communities through human rights advocacy and community development. With our deep expertise in urban settings, we are excited to expand our impact by working more extensively with rural communities.
